81 Vine: 81 Vine St
Built in 1914 this box factory, later a printing company was converted to a residential/retail/office loft building by Architect Caroline Geise FAIA and her son Matt Geise, a developer, in 1999. The designers of 81 Vine preserved the historic composition of brick and timber and added 2 stories of Penthouses with roof top gardens on the pre-existing structure; all 24 homes in 81 Vine are unique in size, layout and views. 81 Vine’s renovation was one of Seattle’s earliest projects composed and executed while keeping the environment in mind. The design contributed to the Growing Vine Street project with artist-designed drainage elements, plantings, terraces and sidewalk improvements that run the length of Vine Street and begin to connect the waterfront to the Seattle Center.

The project will be increased in scope from the original plans. As before, the original brick façade of the former Seattle Plumbing Company Warehouse will be preserved and increased in height from 6 to 11 stories.
