Who doesn’t love a visit to the Oregon Coast? This month, Where Next delivers extraordinarily beautiful and quaint Cannon Beach, courtesy of one of its most prolific agents, Sally Conrad!
Cannon Beach, Oregon is the premier coastal destination of the gorgeous Pacific Northwest. A little more than an hour drive from Portland and just over three hours from Seattle, the area experiences an influx of over one million visitors per year from locations around the world. Impressive for a town with a full-time resident population under 2,000!
Given surrounding topography and bordering State Parks, the town of Cannon Beach has very little room for further growth. This, along with stringent planning guidelines, has helped to keep real estate values strong. Cannon Beach is often referred to as a ‘village,’ with attention to scale, use of materials, and a noticeable lack of ‘big city’ chains. Instead, residents and visitors alike will enjoy local restaurants, charming cafes, and unique boutiques.
Famous for Haystack Rock towering 235 feet from the edge of the shoreline, long sandy stretches of beach and beautiful State Parks nearby, Cannon Beach offers an exceptional Oregon Coast experience only 90 minutes from Portland. A walk along the beach is a visual treat with ever-changing vistas of ocean, mountains, and rugged coastal outcroppings including Haystack Rock, a National Wildlife Refuge where visitors will discover colorful tide pools, and nesting seabirds including Tufted Puffins.
Just minutes from downtown Cannon Beach is Ecola State Park, perched dramatically on the edge of a headland and offering panoramic coastal views, easy walking paths to scenic picnic areas, and extensive hiking trails. The picturesque, small-town village by the sea is easily walkable and visitors can explore meandering pathways, enjoy public art, and courtyards spilling over with flowers. Known as one of the Northwest’s top art towns, Cannon Beach is filled with art galleries, specialty shops, cafes, and fine dining restaurants. Visitors can watch glassblowers at work in their studio or attend year-round live theater performances.
Sally is lucky to call Cannon Beach home for nearly 20 years now! Moving from Seattle, Washington after vacationing with her family there for over 27 years, she and her husband were fortunate to relocate and raise their son in this quaint seaside community. Like many before them and even more after, they were drawn to the lifestyle and natural beauty! And if you’re out enjoying the beautiful and pristine, sandy beach, there’s a good chance you’ll run into Sally and her beautiful Golden Retriever, Dutch!
Sally has enjoyed selling real estate in Cannon Beach in excess fo 19 years now. Her office is located in the heart of the village, so stop in after brunch or ice cream and have a chat. Whether you prefer oceanfront or something near the ocean, there is a home for you and they are all unique and simply amazing in their own coastal way. If you have ever thought about relocating or purchasing a second home in Cannon Beach please allow us to introduce you to Sally Conrad at Cascade Sotheby’s perfectly positioned Cannon Beach office.
