When is the Best Time to List a Home in Seattle?
In a recent Puget Sound Business Journal article, Emily Parkhurst declares that “This is the best time to list your house for sale in Seattle.” The dates she’s referring to? The first couple of weeks in May. As the feature describes, “houses listed between May 1 and May 15 sell 20 days faster than the yearly average.” What’s more? “They also sell for an average of $2,600 more.” These dates apply to most of the market in the United States, but are even weightier in a market as hot as Seattle’s.

Neighborhood Market Spotlight: Central Seattle
Central Seattle includes, among many others, the communities of Broadmoor, Capitol Hill, Denny Blaine, Madrona, and Washington Park. The Washington Park Arboretum is one of the world renown institutions in this area. Garfield High School, the state’s 12th ranked public high school is located here.29 There are over a dozen SEVP schools in this area, including the Northwest School just blocks from downtown, Seattle Preparatory School overlooking Portage Bay, Holy Names Academy in Stevens, and The Bush School on the north side of Harrison Ridge.30 Three of the nation’s leading hospitals are proximate—Virginia Mason, Harborview, and Swedish Medical Center—and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is at South Lake Union. Though not in this area, the Amazon campus is very close by.

Curbed Seattle recently reported that it is officially the wettest winter in Seattle’s recorded history! As of 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Seattle received 38.22 inches of rain since October 1, surpassing 1998-1999 totals.

Sotheby’s International Realty® Reports Significant Gains for 2015
Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates LLC today reported that in 2015 its affiliated brokers and sales professionals achieved approximately $80 billion in U.S. home sales volume (transaction sides multiplied by average sale price). Driven largely by a brand record of over 100,000 total transaction sides, this is the highest annual sales volume performance in the history of the brand and marks a 13% increase from the prior year.
