Insights from our Broker Network
Throughout the years we have befriended many quality real estate brokers around the country and other parts of the world. In our effort to always provide the best possible service to our clients, we have built professional relationships and friendships with the best of these brokers and touch base on a regular basis to discuss how our individual regions are changing and learn about new services and technologies they’ve implemented. This year, we will share a collection of articles co-written with some of these amazing professionals.
This month, we are featuring Christy Curtis and Jane Sheppard, real estate brokers with Coldwell Banker in another beautiful part of the West Coast: Lake Tahoe and Truckee, California. Christy and Jane run a very successful and experienced team in this beautiful region.

What do you love most about your city and region?
We know what a special place this is. Whether you live here a season, most weekends or full-time, you’ll find opportunity for adventure around every corner with access to nearly every winter and summer sport imaginable. We are a local team with deep roots to this region. This is home to amazing slopes, golf courses, trails and beaches. It’s where we create experiences together and value a way of life.
What can you say about the community you live in?
We live in a caring community that protects our backyard and play ground. Access to nature, incredible scenery and recreational pastimes unite us. There is something about the fresh mountain air and Alpine backdrop that ignites our adventurous souls. Tahoe-Truckee truly offers something for everyone.
The internet connects us easily to the primary attractions of an area. What are some of your favorite hidden gems in your region our clients should not miss while visiting Truckee and Lake Tahoe?
Truckee and Lake Tahoe have so many hidden gems and awe-inspiring backdrops. The outdoor activities are abundant, but I must say the most well-hidden gem is not a thing, but a season. The fall in Tahoe-Truckee is amazing! The season changes and the colors are spectacular! In fall, the weather hasn’t quite turned and is still warm enough to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and biking, but the crowds have gone home. The fall is warmly known as “the locals’ summer.”
What do you predict your market will look like in the coming year?
Over the past few years, our market has recovered rapidly (as have so many others) from the recession. I think we have found some stabilization in our market and the coming year, with interest rates ticking up slightly, will see a more “normal” growth in values between 1 and 3 percent. Although some are predicting a slowdown in the market, all the forecasts we have seen look relatively positive, so we expect to see a more historically traditional and stable market.

Thank you for being so kind to give us a little glimpse of life in Lake Tahoe and Truckee, Christy and Jane! You have always been so generous with your knowledge and referring to us as clients. You know who we call when one of our friends is looking for a home in your area!
