Where Next: Insights From Our Broker Network

This month’s Where Next brings us to our neighbors in Walla Walla, Washington! Danielle Beebe, a Broker with Walla Walla Sotheby’s International Realty, graciously shared her perspective of this Pacific Northwest gem with our team. If this glimpse at the infamous wine country town in Eastern Washington peeks your interest, please reach out to us, we’d be more than happy to arrange an introduction!

From Danielle,

What brought me to Walla Walla? Family. Isn’t that always the way? I grew up in Kitsap County and started my real estate career in Poulsbo, Washington. I began in residential sales before moving to Seattle to work under some of the best brokerages in commercial real estate and condominium development.

After my daughter was born, we moved from Seattle to this little town in Eastern Washington, just on the verge of becoming known as an international wine destination. The life we dreamed of was just more accessible here.

After more than a decade, I have enjoyed growing with and being a part of this community—one of the kindest and most supportive I have ever seen. There’s a reason that everyone has ties to Walla Walla (ask someone you know, it’s true) and why many have chosen to make this their home.

I think Walla Walla is a natural progression for Seattleites because they’re used to an array of fine dining and entertainment options. They expect and enjoy local quirks and subcultures. This little town is chock-full of history and culture.

Originally the capital of the Washington Territory, it is now home to three colleges, local theaters, a dozen top rated restaurants, and over a hundred ranking wineries. There are public activities all year long, amazing schools and dozens of picturesque, tree-lined streets. For a smaller community, Walla Walla is always hosting world class events like Shakespeare Walla Walla’s traveling theater troupes and The Gentleman of the Road Concert Series, and has several annual events that draw thousands like the Sweet Onion Festival and Tour of Walla Walla Bicycle Races. We have a robust Farmer’s Market, dozens of city parks, hiking, camping, boating, and even a Ski Resort just a short distance away. This valley is an ideal home-base because one can arrive here so easily. It’s just an hour flight to Seattle and from there, as you know, you can go anywhere in the world!

Walla Walla’s housing market continues to be strong. We are a small community, and because we are insulated from the ebbs and flows of larger markets, our values tend to have steady growth. As a tourist destination, the commercial and rental markets have exploded! Especially with low vacancy rates the convenient income of vacation rental properties is a strong benefit. Even international buyers have realized the value in our little slice of heaven.  Many have chosen to invest in a Walla Walla Valley property to use as a vacation home until the permanent move for retirement. Others live here full time, and “commute” to Seattle or Portland digitally.

With so many options to fit every lifestyle, will Walla Walla be your next move? To view the online galleries and virtual tours of our available listings, visit our link.
