You Can Help Change Lives!

The SeattlebyDesign Team has come across a wonderful charity that supports local neighbors going through challenging times. Tia Baker, the Director of the Seattle chapter, describes the Humble Design mission as:

Humble Design serves individuals, families, and veterans emerging from homelessness by transforming their empty house into a warm, welcoming and uplifting home with donated furniture and household goods. Across the country, Humble Design warehouses are curated and stocked by design teams that personalize homes by providing a dignified, life changing experience for clients. We aim to build a committed, creative network of individuals, community leaders, and corporations working toward creating stability for those affected by homelessness.

A SUCCESS STORY

Dot had been through more than imaginable: the loss of her fiancé, months of homelessness, trying to stay afloat working nights, and even a robbery right after she moved from the shelter into housing. Despite loss and unexpected difficulties, Dot managed to prioritize making a home for her son: working from 5:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. allows her to be home to make dinner and help with his homework. We were honored to help Dot make her empty house a home so that her and her son could start fresh and have the opportunity to heal.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Humble Design relies on donated household goods and furniture in good condition including linens, tableware, pictures, kitchen items, children’s books and toys and anything else that goes in a home. If you have things you no longer need please visit their website Humbledesign.org to find out how you can donate those items to make an incredible difference for people in our community that need a helping hand.  You have an opportunity to create a WIN/WIN/WIN outcome during your next move, remodel and/or Spring cleaning!

1) You can keep perfectly good items out of the landfill and extend their life span

2) You can support deserving local families

3) Humbledesign.org is a 501c3 nonprofit organization so your donation is tax deductible

As part of the SeattlebyDesign Team, we are committed to supporting powerful initiatives that provide answers to local, regional and global challenges people are facing.  Thank you for reading this article and if you support this great cause, THANK YOU FOR CONTRIBUTING!!!
